Finding a Neighbourhood Planning consultant

Are you a Neighbourhood or Business Community Group? Do you need advice form a professional planning consultant?

Working with the right professional advisor can help make your ideas a reality.

The planning process can appear confusing, so discussing your needs with a professional planning consultant can help you:

  • Navigate the planning process
  • Cut through the red tape and jargon, and get to the heart of the issues.
  • Identify opportunities and threats, and work towards resolving them.
  • Ensure your plan is understood by your local planning authority.

How do you find a planning consultant?

Look for a consultant with membership of the RTPI. They are insured, they meet the highest standards of education and practice in planning, and follow our Code of Professional Conduct.

Search our online consultants directory for a planning advisor. You can search by geographical area or by specialims.

How do we commission a consultant?

We recommend that you discuss your needs with at least three consultants to ensure you receive a competitive quote. It may be helpful for you to agree what advice and support your group will need before contacting a consultant.

There is no need to produce a contract. All chartered planning consultants will provide you with their terms of business, which will set out:

  • The services they will provide to you
  • The fees charged
  • Any other outcome agreed by your group and the consultant.
