Do you value the contribution that the social sciences and humanities make to research and policy in the UK or the European Union? If so, your help is needed now.
The European Commission presented a Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU research and innovation funding in February, outlining proposals for future funding, and is in the final days of consultation on the document. RTPI is preparing its own response, but numbers matter: apparently more than half of researchers in the EU work in the area of social sciences and the humanities, yet they are not proportionately represented in responses so far, which could mean that officials would find it hard to make a case for future European funding for research on these subjects.
The British Academy and its equivalents in other Member States appeal for researchers to speak up for their discipline. The consultation process closes on 20 May 2011. Respond to the consultation here.If you would like to see some background material and a sample response, please email back for a briefing.
