Resources

PIPA aims to help you be fully equipped to tackle the important role of being a planning Councillor. Below please find a selection of Resources that we hope that you will find valuable - but if you don't find what you are looking for, the value of the Network is that there is a large body of fellow members that will be knowledgeable and probably keen to help. To make a request through the Member Bulletin please contact the Network Manager.

PIPA at the Planning Convention 2011

PIPA hosted an exceptionally well attended workshop titled Bottom-up planning more or less democratic? Richard Humphreys QC and Cllr Conor McAuley from LB Newham outlined the issues from their respective viewpoints and invited discussion of the potential benefits and barriers to democratic decision-making for local planning. One of the presentations from the Convention can be viewed here.

PIPA at the 2010 Planning Convention

As in previous years, PIPA contributed a break-out session to the 2010 Convention programme. In keeping with the Signposting theme for the event, the session endeavoured to show the value of local leadership in the delivery of essential infrastructure in support of local plans. Two excellent speakers shared their experience and enthusiasms: Cllr Jim Harker (Leader of Northamptonshire County Council) and Cllr Edward Lord (City of London & Chair of Local Partnerships). The presentation from Cllr Harker can be viewed here.

PPS4: Planning for Prosperous Economies

In February Cristina Howick and Peter Keenan (from Roger Tym & Partners) outlined, explained and took questions on the new PPS4: Planning for Prosperous Economies. You can see the two Presentations from this event by taking the links above.
