The primary purpose of the Network for Planning Enforcement (NAPE) is to promote and enhance the role of planning enforcement within the planning profession.
NAPE promotes and supports local and regional activity and encourages the sharing of good practice. It was launched in June 2006 and has been involved in a significant number of consultations, projects and events.
Aims and objectives
NAPE's priorities are to:
- campaign to include enforcement considerations in planning policy and practice
- promote the professional recognition of enforcement
- provide a mechanism for enforcement officers to shape policy and influence practice through a central and strong voice
- encourage networking through local groups in all regions to lessen feelings of isolation
- disseminate good practice and share knowledge and expertise
- identify existing training provision and lobby for better and appropriate resources
- provide a channel for members to have their say.
NAPE will deliver through:
- providing a wealth of resources on the website, including links to regional groups
- collating views from members to respond to consultations from government and other bodies
- using the media to best effect
- maintaining regular contact with NAPE members
- promoting the facility to use web-based discussions to share good practice
- lobbying employers to recognise the professionalism of enforcement officers
- establishing close links with RTPI regions
- promoting RTPI membership
- holding discussions with training providers
- ensuring NAPE has representation on groups that influence the development of government policy
