17 May 2007 - Planning for Administrators

The government has placed many pressures on planning departments to meet targets. This has resulted in managers having to make the best use of staff as they strive for greater efficiency. This often means admin staff are asked to be the first point of contact for members of the public either face to face or on the telephone. They are expected to answer many challenging questions posed to them even though they have no formal background in planning. This event was geared to give a good round up of the planning system from its structure, policy planning, development control to enforcement. It gave admin staff a grounding and knowledge of the planning system which will help them in the roles they undertake.  The day included a site visit, to gain more understanding of the work of planners.

It is hoped to run a similar event in the west of the region next year.  If you are interested, please contact Carol Dawson
