The planning white paper has commenced a series of consultations about the detailed implementation of its proposals.†
The formal deadline for responses to CLG is 17 August. Members wishing to influence the RTPI's policy position can email their views to the policy team at any time before 17 July 2007.

This document seeks views on the main reform proposals in the white paper. - Improving the Appeal Process
This consultation paper proposes changes to the appeals system, seeking a system that is proportionate, customer focused, efficient and well-resourced. - Householder Development Consent
Proposals to extend and clarify the scope of householder development that can be undertaken without the need for a planning application. - Planning Fees in England: Proposals for Change
This consultation paper proposes amending the Fees Regulations so that local authorities would be able to recover from applicants the cost of processing planning applications, and it also invites views on new fees for a 'premium' planning service and for certifying that a planning condition has been fulfilled. - Planning Performance Agreements: a new way of to manage large-scale major planning applications
This consultation paper proposes new arrangements for handling large-scale major planning applications by way of a Planning Performance Agreement, a voluntary agreement between local planning authority and applicant which provides a project management framework so that unnecessary delay and uncertainty can be avoided.
Although the white paper is primarily an England document, it does have wider UK implications, particularly in respect of the proposed major infrastructure policy process.
The Welsh Assembly Government have issued a clarifying letter that helps Welsh members work out the degree to which they may wish to respond to the white paper.
