Important information about accredited degrees
11-May-07
Degree qualifications accredited by the RTPI are indicated as being either ‘combined’, ‘spatial’ or ‘specialist’. In order to meet the RTPI's academic requirements for Chartered membership and candidates should note that they either need to complete a combined course or a spatial planning course and a specialist planning course.
It is important to remember that neither a spatial course nor a specialist course on its own will satisfy the academic requirement for membership. Please also note that other courses offered by our partners in education may not be accredited and as such are not recognised by the RTPI for membership purposes.
Candidates should seek confirmation from the relevant University that their course of choice is accredited by the RTPI for the purpose of corporate membership of the RTPI. Courses listed as undergraduate are for undergraduate entry, but some of these lead to a postgraduate qualification, which will be the required exit point in order for the qualification to be accredited. The standard route for undergraduates is three years of undergraduate study followed by one year's postgraduate study, leading to a Diploma or Masters.
The entry requirements for these courses are set by our partners, not by the RTPI, and you should discuss any queries you have with the contacts listed or the university's Admissions Tutor.
