Planning Aid recordRecord numbers of individuals and community groups are taking advantage of the help and assistance offered by the Planning Aid, the charity which works with people and communities to improve the places where they live and work by providing free and independent advice on all types of planning issues.

At its Annual Conference in Newcastle last week it was announced that almost 38,000 individuals and groups across England had been helped by the charity over the past year. More than 4,500 people contacted the organisation’s information line and 500 community groups received direct assistance to help them play an active part in putting forward their views when their areas underwent regeneration and redevelopment.

Head of Planning Aid, Dave Chetwyn said:

“Planning Aid gives everyone the chance to be heard and to be helped. Building healthy communities for tomorrow means putting planners in touch with people their plans will actually affect.”

The Planning White Paper, due in May, is expected to give a further boost to encouraging communities to engage with the planning system.
