Effective community involvement in the planning system is at the heart of the UK planning systems. For England, community involvement and community led plans are referred to in National planning legislation, policy and guidance and. See for example;

RTPI Policy
The RTPI’s Vision for planning explains our general position and support of an inclusive planning system.
Specific RTPI policy can be found in many of our contributions to Government consultations, Reviews and Inquiries. See for example the RTPI’s;
- Position on the Planning White Paper
- Evidence to a Government Inquiry in to Local Government Consultation
- Response to a Government consultation Local Strategic partnerships: Shaping their Future
- Press statement on the Local Government White Paper
The RTPI position is also reflected in the guidance we provide, the research we are involved with, our relationship with communityplaning.net, our comprehensive Planning Aid service and our approach to education and life long learning.
