Research and policy background
This publication was made possible due to Central Government funding of the RTPI’s Community Planning Project.
Discussions at the RTPI General Assembly and with the Community Planning Forum have directly influenced the content of these guidelines which were first published in 2005.
As well as being central to ongoing planning and governance reforms across the UK effective community involvement is also an integral element of spatial planning as defined through the RTPI’s New Vision for Planning.
