Who is the APC for?

01-Mar-07

The APC is aimed at graduates of accredited courses working towards Corporate Membership of the RTPI, but there are many other stakeholders involved.  It is the route to Chartered status for all students who graduate from accredited courses in 2006 onwards and also applies to the first cohort of students to graduate from intensive one-year Masters degrees in 2005.

Students who graduated in 2005 or earlier (with the exception of one-year Masters students) will continue to apply under the existing membership procedures outlined in our Membership section. Eligible applicants have until 1 January 2009 to apply through this route.

Applicants without an accredited qualification will continue to apply for Corporate Membership under our Special Entry arrangements. This will ultimately be subject to change following our review of membership classes, with the introduction of Associate Membership.

Planning schools have a role in preparing students for these requirements and Corporate Members may participate by volunteering to become mentors to support Licentiates on this route. Employers will also play a key role in supporting their new graduates, and any mentors within their organisation, to minimise any barriers that Licentiates may face in gaining their professional qualification.
