About RTPI in Scotland
12-Mar-08
RTPI in Scotland has delegated powers to run RTPI affairs in Scotland. This enables us to work directly with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliament who legislate for the separate planning system in Scotland. We also support dialogue on planning policy issues with many other Scottish public bodies, industry representatives and within the media.
Scottish Executive Committee
Our work is managed through the Scottish Executive Committee (SEC) and implemented by the National Director and staff team based at the Edinburgh office. The SEC's remit includes:
- developing the Institute's position on a range of planning policy in Scotland;
- supporting members in their professional activities;
- working with the seven regional Chapters and the Scottish Young Planners Group; and
- coordinating the Institute's programme of national events in Scotland.
The SEC is represented on the RTPI's General Assembly, committees and panels.
Working across many sectors in Scotland
The Institute is also active within a very wide range of Scottish professional bodies, forums and networks whose work is linked to spatial planning - includes the following sectors: the built environment, the historic environment, the natural environment, the health sector, sustainable development, housing and regeneration, economic development, and more generally the public and private sectors.
