Meet the RTPI East of England Regional Chair for 2012 - Phil Godwin

31-Jan-12

Phil Godwin is Conservation, Design & Landscape Manager at North Norfolk District Council.

Phil has been a member of the Regional Activities Committee for nearly 10 years.

He says: "I am looking forward to the year ahead with some trepidation but also with some excitement. Being actively engaged in the activities of your respective professional institute can be a very rewarding and enlightening experience. That’s certainly been the case for me. Networking and finding out what is going on in the region and keeping up to date with what’s happening in Planning has been one of the major benefits for me. You also have the satisfaction of helping your colleagues in the profession…whether they are starting out in their career or are in mid-stream or beyond like me.

Its certainly going to be an interesting year for Planning. With the final draft of the National Planning Policy Framework being published in the spring and the government’s drive in respect of its Localism/Big Society agenda, and the prospect of Neighbourhood Development Plans and the emergence of Local Enterprise Partnerships,  there’s much to contemplate".
