The Royal Town Planning Institute Scotland (RTPI Scotland) welcomes the appointment of Derek Mackay as the new Local Government and Planning Minister.

David SuttieDavid Suttie (pictured right) , RTPI Scotland’s Convener, said:

“RTPI Scotland congratulates Derek Mackay on his new role as Minister for Local Government and Planning.  We are confident he will continue to build on the good work done by his predecessor Aileen Campbell in promoting the key role of planning in achieving the Government's ambitions for sustainable economic growth.  We look forward to working with him in the future and will be seeking an early meeting with him to discuss this.”

RTPI Scotland worked closely with the former planning minister, Aileen Campbell.

David Suttie thanked Ms Campbell for her hard work:

“Ms Campbell’s promotion is no surprise to those who have worked with her. She has proven to be a very effective minister with an excellent grasp of what can be a very technical portfolio. RTPI Scotland wishes her well in her new role as children's minister."
