Work begins at Trinity Square

04-Nov-11

Construction work has begun on the £150m redevelopment of Gateshead town centre. The development will include the site of the late, lamented “Get Carter” car park and the present Tesco store, eventually providing a new town square, 45 retail units, student accommodation, a health centre, offices and a new Tesco Extra. The three-year construction project is expected to create 1,000 new jobs. The new supermarket, shops and health centre are due to open in spring 2013, with the new student accommodation to be complete by 2014.
