YPA Launches New Training Programme

25-Jan-07

Following a successful programme of ‘Planning for non Planners’ training in May 2006, Yorkshire Planning Aid has now received further funding from Integreat Yorkshire to run a second programme in March 2007.

As before, this one-day training session is aimed at Community Development Workers, Youth Workers, Regeneration Officers, Tenant & Resident Support Officers and other community workers to help them to understand how the groups and individuals they work with can influence the planning system – and why they should be doing so!

The session gives an introduction to The UK Planning System, including Local Development Frameworks, Planning Applications and Section 106 Agreements. Delegates will also get an overview of the links between the Planning System and LSPs/Community Plans/Parish Plans/Transport Plans etc.

Over 80% of those attending last time stated that they felt better equipped to engage with the planning system without professional help. This is a great endorsement, given that most of the delegates had no prior expertise.

The content and format of the day has been amended to take account of suggestions made by delegates at the May events – in particular there will be more interactive sessions during the day – and it will be delivered in four locations throughout the region during March.

If you would like to receive further details and a booking form please contact: Jacqui Baines, Regional Co-ordinator, Yorkshire Planning Aid, Tel: 0113 237 8486.
