Call for REF Sub-Panel Chair for Architecture, Built Environment and Planning

Arrangements for the next round of assessment of research in UK higher education institutes have just been announced. In the new Research Excellence Framework (REF) planning research will be assessed by an Architecture, Built Environment and Planning Sub-Panel which is one of 36 subject-based expert sub-panels. The assessment informs investment in further research. The role of Sub-Panel Chair for Architecture, Built Environment and Planning will make an important contribution to the leadership and development of the relevant disciplines. The UK Funding Councils are inviting direct applications from excellent individuals by 17 September 2010. Full particulars are available on www.ref.ac.uk

Call for Nominations to REF Sub-Panel

The UK Funding Councils have invited the RTPI to nominate candidates for panel membership. Panel membership is an important contribution to the development of planning research and its impact and is a major individual commitment. RTPI members are encouraged to propose nominees, who are either experienced planning practitioners with expertise in the use or wider benefits of planning research or leading planning researchers, for support by the RTPI Executive Board. Information about the criteria and work programme is available at www.ref.ac.uk. Please send details of your proposals, or request for support, to Jenny Crawford, Head of Research at jenny.crawford@rtpi.org.uk by 31 August 2010.
