Learning Outcomes Consultation
The Learning Outcomes for RTPI accredited courses are currently under revision, with the aims of explicitly addressing climate change, reducing complexity and ensuring that the outcomes are measurable in line with best educational practice. A consultation on the new proposals has now been launched and will run until Friday 11 June 2010. For further information and to respond, click here.
Bids sought for European research funding
A new call for tenders launched on 3 May by ESPON – a five-year programme for applied research into all aspects of European territorial development – provides a great opportunity for UK researchers to bid for substantial European research projects. Evidence-based policy in planning: an analysis of housing trajectories in England
Planner Stephen Barton and Trudy Harpham from London South Bank University have published a paper analysing 'housing trajectories', which local and regional planning authorities are required to prepare as part of the supporting evidence base for the local development framework (LDF) process. Habitat Banking
A study for the European Commission led by UK environmental economics consultancy Eftec and the Institute for European Environmental Policy has concluded that "habitat banking" - a market where credits from actions with beneficial biodiversity outcomes can be purchased to offset the debit from environmental damage - could, along with other policies, be a useful instrument in helping the EU meet its goal of no net biodiversity loss.
