The Regent Street Vision – The Crown Estate (2010)

Regent Street in London is the world’s oldest, and arguably, most prestigious shopping street.  However, by the beginning of the new Millennium the retail and office floorspace in the area needed radical upgrading. The compilation of a comprehensive evidence base at the outset and the attention to detailed design makes the delivery of the new vision for Regent Street an exemplar.

Castle Howard Conservation Management Plan and Development Framework - Castle Howard Estate (2009)
Aims to create a long term dynamic management plan informed by the estate’s significance, values and special qualities as a historic entity, which is still a family home.

Gardyne's Land, Dundee - Dundee City Council (2009)
A complex of five historic buildings situated within an outstanding conservation area in the centre of Dundee. The commitment over many years by the Tayside Building Preservation Trust demonstrates how the sustained leadership of a small number of individuals can be key to the success of a project.

Heritage and Archaeology on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link – Channel Tunnel Rail Link (2008)
As the biggest archaeological project in the UK to date, it aimed to mitigate the impact of construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link on the historic environment of Kent and east London. The heritage work undertaken has undoubtedly provided a lasting legacy and set the standard for future major infrastructure projects.

Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands, Surrey – Terence O’Rourke Ltd and Daimler Chrysler Retail (DCR) Ltd (2007)
Transformation of a marginal, degraded site and returned it to its former position as an internationally, historically important site for motor racing and aviation, with the sensitive development of a heritage and technology centre and new multi-purpose driving circuit, with associated heritage and environmental improvements.

Commendations

Blists Hill, Ironbridge – Nash Partnership (2010)

Blist's Hill open air museum is a popular visitor attraction. It was recognised that further development of the site was need, and consultants were appointed. This scheme is a good example of joint working between a developer and the local planning authority which has delivered a successful scheme with excellent design and conservation outcomes.

Cobham Ashenbank Management Scheme - Gravesham Borough Council (2009)
Working cooperatively galvanised opinion, co-ordinated action and secured the resources to restore a historic Repton-designed park. Given the complexity of the interests and issues involved this is a significant achievement.

Tiverton Pannier Market Enhancement Scheme – Mid Devon District Council (2007)
The restoration of the historic Pannier market buildings at the centre of Tiverton, have boosted trading, improved the shopping experience of local residents and re-established it as the heart of the town, with positive regeneration effects rippling through the town centre.
