Winners
♦ Working with the public through IT - City of London Corporation (2010)
Public consultation is an important element of the City of London's Planning and Transportation Department work in delivering public realm enhancements. Use of IT enables many more people whose views might otherwise be missed to become engaged in the development process and to make their preferences known. The innovative and exciting approach to working with the public is an evolving model which could be adapted for use elsewhere.
♦ London Brownfield Sites Review (Stage 2) – Arup (2009)
A database has been developed that provides data linked to mapping that users can interrogate easily, allows data to be customised and sets a benchmark for developing an accessible way to identify sites for potential reuse.
♦ RSPB Minerals Restoration Potential Project – RSPB (2008)
A resource which will have direct value in ensuring that former mineral working sites are reused in a way which contributes to the UK Biodiversity Action Plan targets. People and wildlife will benefit from the creation of a variety of new habitats throughout England.
♦ Northamptonshire’s ECA and GI Suite – River Nene Regional Park Partnership (2007)
Provides a comprehensive, transparent and strategic tool usable by all those involved in planning and allowing them to take account of, enhance, and expand the county’s green infrastructure. The project took 5 years to develop, was launched in November 2006, and is a first in its field.
Commendations
♦ Unlawful Advertising and Fly-Posting Database – Planning Portal (2008)
A database of prosecutions against companies who had illegally displayed advertisements or who had been responsible for fly posting. The database is used by and added to by nominated enforcement officers
♦ Ancoats Urban Village Virtual Model (2007)
A conservation area that contains a significant number of Grade 2 and 2* listed buildings. Due to the importance of the buildings and their historical connections, a 3D virtual model was created to help inform consideration of redevelopment and regeneration proposals.
