Winners

London Rivers Action Plan - Environment Agency (2009)
Aims to raise the profile of river restoration as a key feature of sustainable development. It’s innovative and imaginative use of the planning process has already achieved positive results and is helping to create a more sustainable London.

2010 – A Waste Odyssey: Development of a Sustainable Waste Management Park – Cambridgeshire County Council (2007)
A key facility designed to achieve Cambridgeshire’s target for a 75 percent reduction in biodegradable waste deposited to landfill by 2020/21. Extensive public consultation has resulted in no sustained objections to the proposal

Commendations

Sustainable Design and Construction SPD - London Borough of Southwark (2009) 
Acts as a key tool in supporting the Council's aim of reducing CO2 emissions, by ensuring that new developments have a positive impact on the environment by reducing emissions from construction, adapting to unavoidable climate change, conserving water, and being planned to reduce flood risk.

Moving Green Roofs into the Mainstream - Environment Agency (2009)
An online toolkit that provides clear and concise practical advice on the design of green roofs and promotes the contributions they can make to meeting the challenges of climate change.

Delivering Sustainable Energy and Biodiversity Enhancement in Tower Hamlets – London Borough of Tower Hamlets (2008)
The Council decided to develop guidance for renewable energy and biodiversity to help focus on the most appropriate approaches in a comprehensive, straightforward way that can be applied to any neighbourhood or local authority area in the UK.
