RTPI helps members develop their professional knowledge and expertise
The RTPI’s Planners in the Workplace programme developed and funded two pilot Collaborative Working Groups to help RTPI members develop their professional knowledge and expertise; one in the North West and one in the West Midlands. This knowledge exchange and professional development initiative is based on the tried and tested action learning set model of problem solving through group discussion of workplace issues. George Pepler International Award
Are you under the age of 30, enjoy travel and would like to go abroad this Summer to study some particular aspect of spatial planning? Then why not apply for this Award? Candidates need to provide a statement describing their chosen study together with a brief itinerary. The successful candidate will be awarded a sum of £1,500 which will be paid in two installments, two-thirds being paid before the visit and the balance after the visit and on submission of a report. The Award is not confined to members or students of the RTPI. Details of previous winners and an application form can be found on the website or for further information please email. Planning - Shaping the Future, 28-30 June 2010, London

Scotland's path to a low-carbon economy
The Committee on Climate Change published their much anticipated report on Scotland's climate targets on 24 February in Edinburgh. COST, the European Cooperation in Science and Technology programme, is one of the longest-running European instruments supporting cooperation among scientists and researchers across Europe.
