The Institute has a responsibility to maintain professional standards and to ensure the integrity and reputation of the profession and Institute is maintained. In†order to do so, all members agree to abide by the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct, the Byelaws and supplementary regulations that are published periodically. The Code sets out basic requirements that members must follow, including that members must act with competence, honesty, and integrity.
Where a member is found to have breached the Code, the Institute can warn or reprimand a member, or suspend or terminate a membership. Members can also be named in a published report of the decision.
The Institute has a complaints procedure which it follows when there are allegations that a member has breached the Code of Professional Conduct.
