Completing Your Application

09-Jan-07

Application Deadline

Applicants must have met all requirements for membership by the submission deadline in order to be eligible to apply. Applications submitted prematurely, even by a few days, will not be accepted for consideration.

The date of completion of an RTPI accredited qualification is taken as being the date when the examination board met to confirm the award of the final degree or diploma. If applicants are unsure of their date of completion for RTPI membership purposes, they should contact the Membership Education and Lifelong Learning Department by email at membership@rtpi.org.uk.

FORTHCOMING SUBMISSION DEADLINES

Accuracy of Information

Owing to the tight schedule operated by the Institute to ensure that all applicants receive the outcome of their applications as quickly as possible, it is paramount that the applicants provide all requested information clearly and accurately. Failure to do so could result in a significant delay to the result of the application, including deferral to a future submission deadline while all necessary information is obtained.

The application must have original signatures in all cases, including those of corroborators and sponsors. Photocopies, faxed copies or email attachments of applications are not acceptable.

Administration Fees

There is a non-refundable administration fee for consideration of applications for Chartered Membership, Fellowship, Technical Membership, Legal Associate Membership, International Associate Membership and for reinstatement to the above membership classes.

Applicants for reinstatement to any class of membership should contact the Institute to find out if they have subscription arrears owing.

All fees (subscription arrears and/or administration fee) are payable by cheque to the Royal Town Planning Institute and must be included with the application form. Any application that does not include the relevant fee will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant.

Acknowledgement of Application

Although the Institute acknowledges all applications, owing to the volume of applications received, it is not possible to do so immediately on receipt. Applicants are advised to send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with their applications if they wish for immediate acknowledgement.

Specific information for completing applications is in the guidance notes accompanying each application form.
