Sue Taylor has today been elected as the new Chairperson of NAPE – the National Association for Planning Enforcement.  Currently Acting Chair, following the stepping-down of Leslie Smith in July this year, Sue’s new official post will commence on 1st January for a period of two years. Sue received a majority of the votes cast last week by members of NAPE’s Management Committee, who are themselves elected by NAPE members. 

Sue Taylor is the Planning Enforcement Manager at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. She has over 30 years experience in Local Government and has worked in planning enforcement since 1986. In that time she has gained extensive knowledge of enforcement issues but has a special interest in planning law. She is a founding member of NAPE and has served on its Management Committee since its launch in June 2006.

On receiving the news, Sue said:

“I am honoured to be elected as Chairperson of NAPE and will continue to build on the reputation that NAPE has already established by promoting the professional recognition of planning enforcement and by liaising with the RTPI, government, and other external bodies, to ensure that planning enforcement has a strong national voice.”

NAPE acts as a representative body and is specifically aimed at individuals working in planning enforcement within or on behalf of in planning authorities. It promotes and supports regional and local activity and encourages the sharing of good practice.
