Retired Member

01-Dec-11

Fellows, Chartered Members, Legal Members, Technical Members, Legal Associates and International Associates who have retired from practice but wish to remain members of the Institute can transfer to the Retired Members’ class.

On transfer, Retired Members will retain all the rights and privileges of membership, including the use of the designatory letters MRTPI(Rtd), FRTPI(Rtd), LMRTPI(Rtd), TechRTPI (Rtd) or LARTPI(Rtd) as appropriate. However, Chartered Members and Fellows transferring to the Retired Members class will no longer be able to call themselves Chartered Town Planners, and, therefore, will not be eligible to sponsor applications for any class of membership, nor be involved in the provision of Planning Aid services.

Subscription Fees

The annual subscription fee for retired members is currently £50. Members can also pay a life-time subscription fee of £740 at the time they apply to be transferred to the Retired class.

Reversion to Previous Class of Membership.

A Retired Member who returns to practice and is remunerated for services rendered must immediately notify the Institute of the change, giving the date when this occurred. Such a member should apply for reversion to his/her former class of membership.

Guidance on reversion and an application form are available from membership@rtpi.org.uk
