Here is an overview of the services available to you as an RTPI member - take a fresh look at RTPI, what we can offer you and how to access our services:

Stay informed and up to date with a wide range of information, resources and training to help you progress your career, meet your CPD obligations and develop your knowledge on a range of topics.
• Planning magazine – all the latest news in the planning sector, every week, keeping you up to date. Access the online version (log in using your RTPI membership number).
• RTPI Networks and Associations - sector-specific virtual communities, that offer regular e-mail bulletins, events and networking with planners in your specialist area. To join, find the Network that's right for you and simply click the "Join" link to contact the relevant Network Manager. You will need to be registered on the RTPI website, using your RTPI membership number, to join a Network.
• Low-cost CPD events through RTPI Regions and Nations – free and low-cost events on topics identified by members in your local area.
• High quality commercial training from RTPI Conferences – conferences, events and seminars on a wide range of subjects, run by RTPI Conferences. Contact 0845 082 1171 or services@rtpiconferences.co.uk for bookings or queries.
• Online training from PlanningMatters – over 200 specialist online training modules that you can access when it suits you, with a CPD log to keep track of your learning. • Policy guidance, information and comment - building the evidence from research and practice experience into policy and consultation responses.
• Members' discounted price of £32 for Planning Theory and Practice – get the best theory to apply to your planning practice for a great value price. Subscribe by direct debit using the form on page 17 of the 'Your 2010 Membership and Subscription' booklet or send our Subscriptions team a cheque (write ‘Planning Theory and Practice Discount”, your membership number and contact details on the back).
• Planning Aid – use your skills to help local communities. Volunteer now by e-mail or phone (0121 214 2909) or find out more about Planning Aid's work.
Workplace and practice information, guidance and support
RTPI provides information and support on planning practice, professional conduct and a wide range of the topics and issues that affect you during your planning career.
• Personal support service to help members with difficulties in the workplace. See existing guidance and enquiries,or e-mail piwp@rtpi.org.uk in confidence to make a new enquiry.
• Employment law helpline - we provide RTPI members with free, 24-hour confidential employment advice.
• Good Practice Notes – drawing on our expertise to provide guidance and practice advice to support you. To see our latest advice, go to www.rtpi.org.uk/the_rtpi/practice
• Signposting to key information - saving you time and avoiding duplication by directing you to the most relevant advice and information. To see our signpost index, click here
• RTPI collaborative working groups - developing knowledge in the workplace. To find out more about our two pilot groups, click here.
• RTPI Learning Partners - employers committed to your development. A list of current RTPI Learning Partners and more information about the scheme can be found here.
• Management guidance and information - for public and private sectors. RTPI offers guidance and information for managers in the public sector and private sector as well as a series of free management factsheets.
• Consultancy information and support - RTPI provides advice for members starting in consultancy and for existing consultants.
Support for members during the recession
The RTPI can support you by:
• Making paying your subscription easier - pay in four quarterly installments by Direct Debit; claim UK tax relief on the cost of your subscription (for UK tax payers who pay their own subscriptions - see note); claim a reduced subscription if on a low income, maternity leave or an RTPI accredited course; become a retired member and reduce your subscription to £35. See pages 15/16 for Reduced Subscription Claim Forms.
• Supporting members and their families experiencing financial hardship through the RTPI Trust - make a donation or request support.
• Providing services and information for members considering consultancy
• Offering advice for members whose business is affected by the recession
• Offering guidance for members concerned about redundancy
• Arranging events on topics such as CV writing and interview technique through RTPI's Regions and Nations.
• Offering seminars from Perfect presentations to Effective report writing through RTPI Conferences.
• Giving you opportunities to broaden your experience and improve your CV by volunteering for Planning Aid
