This forum is based on the outcomes of the ESPON UK Workshop:
UK Spatial Development Evidence Base, Leeds, 23 September 2009
The workshop, hosted by the ESPON UK Contact Point, RTPI Development Planning Network and CLG, brought together researchers and practitioners to explore the potential for using data generated by the ESPON research programme. Participants considered how ESPON can help to develop and inform spatial development indicators for planning and economic development in the UK in the context of the European Territorial Agenda (workshop programme).

The workshop:
- provided information on the latest call for research projects,
- outlined how data already generated by the programme can be accessed and used,
- identified gaps to be addressed in current and forthcoming ESPON research,
- explored how ESPON can provide research outputs that are relevant to UK planning practice.
