1. The Scottish Government has announced its response to the report of the Committee of Inquiry on Crofting, which was chaired by GURU member Mark Shucksmith. The findings have implications beyond crofting and Scotland: new ways of thinking about place-shaping and place governance have emerged from the report. 2. APL is hosting the 2009 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference, Unequal Places: Planning and Territorial Cohesion - in Newcastle from April 1-3, sponsored by the RTPI. We are now actively seeking abstracts for papers from academics and planning practitioners.
