ROYAL TOWN PLANNING INSTITUE - SOUTH WEST (RTPI SW) RESEARCH & INNOVATIVE SPATIAL PLANNING INITIATIVE (RISPI)
The broad objectives of the RTPI SW’s Research and Innovative Spatial Planning Initiative (RISPI) are to:
• Promote the sharing of knowledge about, and access to, spatial planning research and effective practice;
• Strengthen links between research, policy, practice & implementation:
• Enhance the standard and standing of spatial planning research;
• Contribute a SW perspective to the evolving RTPI research strategy.
The focus is on adding value and filling gaps to further enhance effective practice in spatial planning. The RTPI SW sees potential for joint working and collaborative funding with other bodies in delivering RISPI.
The target audience for workshops / seminars embraces national / regional organisations, local authorities, the private and voluntary sectors, plus academia - primarily in Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

This RTPI (South West) RISPI workshop related to the evidence base for spatial planning, including:
• Office for National Statistics (ONS) Mid Year Population Estimates + the 2011 Census of Population
• The DEMIFER Project - Demographic & Migratory Flows affecting European regions + cities
• Strategic Housing Market Assessments
• Sharing experience and knowledge across the South West
