2007/08 Accredited Courses
01-May-08
The RTPI accredits over 79 courses in 23 Universities in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and Hong Kong, with more new planning schools and courses coming on line each year. With nearly 4000 students taking RTPI accredited courses planning education is more popular than ever and with the introduction of the intensive one-year Masters programme and student bursaries from the UK government in 2004, accredited planning schools report that many courses are often oversubscribed and filled early on in the University admissions cycle.
To apply for Chartered Membership candidates need to have completed either a combined course, or a spatial planning course and a specialist planning course. Neither a spatial planning course nor a specialist planning course on its own will satisfy the academic requirements for membership.
Entry requirements for accredited qualifications are set by the universities and potential students should discuss any queries they may have with the relevant planning school. The RTPI accredits degrees at the following Universities:
Birmingham City University (formerly University of Central England, Birmingham)
Joint Distance Learning Consortium
Liverpool John Moores University
University College Cork - Provisional Accreditation
University of Birmingham - Provisional Accreditation
University of Strathclyde - Provisional Accreditation
University of the West of England, Bristol
All RTPI accredited degree qualifications can also be downloaded as a full list.
