ESPON UK NETWORK
The ESPON UK Network will be launched next week at the annual Planning Research Conference [www.qub.ac.uk/prc2008belfast/prog.html] in Belfast. Are you interested in being a member of the Network? Members will receive regular updates on ESPON calls, projects, events and publications. They can also play a direct role in informing the shape and use of ESPON research. Lower Silesia Department for Regional Development European Territorial Cooperation Unit, Poland
• Lower Silesia intends to lead a bid under Priority 2 to analyse disproportions between big agglomerations or dynamic centers of development and other indicated areas like mountainous, rural and peripheral. This will address
• centres generating development both public and private (investments, employment, international activity like projects)
• social and public participation
• (indicatively) global and European trends that could positively contribute to animate and activate underdeveloped indicated territories in our regions – what fields may generate further development in this aspect
• Institutional capacity of public sector (indicator here would possibly be lasting of public procurement procedure, foreign language command, number of international projects)
• Comparative analysis on the regions participating with possibly indicating what would be the fields of future fruitful cooperation for the regions.
