Can I join?
Membership of the ICN is free of charge but is open only to RTPI members. You can find out more about becoming an RTPI member here. We expect that if you are running your own planning consultancy you will be a chartered town planner.
If you have a different sort of RTPI membership (e.g. student or licentiate), and would like to join the ICN to find out more about working as an independent consultant, you are welcome to join, but we suggest making contact first, to find out if the Network will meet your needs.
We don’t have strict criteria for the size of a small practice.
Benefits of joining include:
- a regular e-bulletin in which members can exchange information and keep up to date with small business and RTPI news
- an active discussion forum specifically for independent consultants to share opinions and ask for advice
- a dedicated website with relevant information and helpful links
- opportunities to participate in small and time-limited task groups, through which network members help to develop policy and projects.
To join the network:
You must first have registered on this website by clicking on the "my profile" button in the top right hand corner. Please complete the Profile as fully as possible as this will help you get the most from the Network, and make sure you include your RTPI membership number.
Once this been done, just click on the ‘Join here!’ link to the left of the homepage. Requesting access there triggers a message to the Network Manager who will grant access and respond to you by email.
If you have any problems signing up online please contact the network manager.
