The RTPI Planning Policy and Practice Committee is drawn from members of the General Assembly who express interest in policy matters, and from seconded acknowledged experts in planning and related fields.  An annual skills audit is carried out to ensure that the committee has a balanced membership, adapted to address the current planning policy and practice issues, in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

The chair of the committee is appointed following the first General Assembly each year.  Richard Summers MRTPI is the current chair.
