Sustainability, Space and Social Justice – Planning Research Conference 2008
The annual Planning Research Conference will be held for the first time in Northern Ireland, 18 - 20 March 2008. Hosted by the School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPACE), Queen’s University, Belfast, it will provide an opportunity for both new and experienced researchers to present and debate current planning issues. Its title theme encompasses some of the most acute current challenges to the field of planning –including the way it responds to the global environmental crisis of climate change, integration with wider public policy and community strategies and its impact on all aspects of social and environmental justice. Key speakers will include Julian Agyeman, whose recent publications include Sustainable Communities and the Challenge of Environmental Justice (2005, NYU Press), Frank McDonald, Environmental Editor of the Irish Times and Professor Susan Owens, member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution. The Call for Papers opened on 30 September 2007 and further details for submission and registration can be found at www.qub.ac.uk/prc2008belfast/
