Guidance for members to survive recession

Guidance is available for RTPI members facing difficult times, due to the economic downturn. The current climate has created uncertainty for employed planners, those who run their own practice and graduates looking to gain employment – the jobs market may become more challenging in the months ahead.

If you are affected by the current economic climate, we have developed guidance here to help you consider some of the options open to you.

RTPI responds to Government's Rural Housing Statement

“The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) welcomes the Government’s response to the Matthew Taylor Report 2008, clearly identifying the need to reset planning and economic policies for rural areas to ensure access to affordable housing and a sustainable future for local communities. Rural areas are as important to the RTPI as urban areas. The proposal for competitions to develop new, high quality sustainable expansions for rural market towns is exciting. However, if this is taken forward, it will be critical that the Government learns lessons from its Eco-Towns initiative and ensures that proposals are developed working with local communities, through the local plan-making process.”

The Heritage Interest Group, within the family of RTPI Networks, is looking to expand its activities. If you have an interest in planning for urban or rural heritage, then we would be most grateful if you would complete a very brief survey here, to help scope the benefits from and activities for the Group, to ensure that it is relevant and active across the UK. And please pass the details to anyone else you know that shares the interest. Many thanks.
