Awards
Our award programmes are designed to encourage and reward outstanding achievement in planning. We aim to celebrate the contribution made by the planning profession to the quality of life throughout the UK, and to raise awareness and understanding of pioneering work.
The annual RTPI Planning Awards recognise the diversity of planning achievements, from large-scale spatial planning through to small-scale environmental enhancements. Most of the RTPI Regions in England also run their own award schemes. Our Planning Consultancy of the Year Award recognises the contribution made by consultants to better planning practice.
Recognising young planners
Our Young Planner of the Year Award recognises outstanding achievement by RTPI members under the age of 35. The George Pepler International Award is open to individuals under the age of 30 who wish to either visit Britain, or being resident in Britain, visit another country for a short period, (say, 3 - 4 weeks) to study some particular aspect of town and country planning.
Celebrating achievement
Our Gold Medal and President’s Special Award for Planning Achievement honour distinguished service to planning over many years. The RTPI Networks also run their own awards recognising good practice. We are also involved in awards which recognise achievement in planning in London and in Scotland, and are sponsors of the Water Efficiency Awards, Housing Design Awards and the Street Design Awards. Three Education Awards were introduced in 2008 to reflect particular aspects of spatial planning and stakeholders that are not currently represented in the above awards.
