Forth and Clyde Canal - Tour of the former Rosebank Distillery

An RTPI Central Scotland Chapter Event

Thursday, 06 October 2016 at 5:45PM - 8:00PM
The Rosebank (Beefeater), Main St, Camelon, Falkirk, FK1 4DS
RTPI Scotland

The former Rosebank Distillery is located alongside the Forth and Clyde canal and was originally constructed in 1817 and closed in 1993. The property was subsequently taken over by Scottish Canals. Developments to date include a pub (The Rosebank) and residential development. The remaining buildings complex, which is category B listed, and is a key part of Falkirk’s built heritage, has remained vacant and represents a canal-side opportunity for new business and leisure development. The site is another link in Falkirk's existing canal-related tourism and leisure developments, which include the Kelpies/Helix Park and the Falkirk Wheel.

Come along and take a tour around the former distillery building. You may have passed this unique building and wondered what it was like on the inside. Now is your chance to take a look! The tour will be led by representatives of Scottish Canals who will be able to offer their insight on the issues around bringing forward canal-related regeneration projects.

We will be meeting in the car park of the Rosebank Beefeater across the road at 5.45pm and the tour will start at 6pm. Depending on numbers, we may be required to undertake the tour in separate groups. There will be refreshments, and a Q&A after the tour at the Rosebank Beefeater.

Whilst hard-hats are not required, please wear stout footwear and clothing which you won't mind getting potentially dusty!

The numbers for the event are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Please book your place before Friday 30th September using Eventbrite:
