Falkirk Business Hub, 45 Vicar St, Falkirk, FK1 1LL
Arguably, not since the immediate post-war period with the ‘Homes fit for Heroes’ campaign and the subsequent delivery of new towns has housing had such a high profile on the political agenda. With the home building sector and the wider construction industry still recovering from the economic downturn, every aspect of delivering high quality homes of all tenures is under increased scrutiny to find ways of delivering supply to keep pace with demand.
Planning is intrinsically linked with the delivery of new homes; a point recognised within the recent Planning Review. With ongoing debate over the performance and resourcing of planning authorities and the re-ignited challenge of the plan-led system versus ‘planning by appeal’ set within an ever-changing political landscape, this is an opportune time to review planning’s role in ending this ‘crisis’.
Join us for some light refreshments and an evening of fruitful discussion that will be led by:
Craig McLaren – Director, RTPI Scotland & Ireland
Mark Russell – Principal Planning Advisor, Homes for Scotland
Murray Shaw – Chairman, Gillespie Macandrew LLP
Short presentations from the guest speakers will begin at 6.30pm with plenty of time given for questions and debate. The numbers for the event are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Please book your place before Thursday 27th October.
For booking and any further information please e-mail Andrew Trigger (Central Scotland Chapter ViceConvenor) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This event is free to RTPI members and £5 for non-RTPI members. For RTPI members, attending this event will contribute to your CPD.
