In the current housing crisis, what lessons can be drawn from the extensive housing review (The Lyons Review), which Sir Michael led three years ago, and what more now needs to be done especially in the North of England?

"We continue to fail to build enough homes for the needs of our children and grandchildren. This is a self inflicted problem and cannot be blamed on higher productivity or lower labour costs in other economies. We know well the connections between housing; national economic management; educational attainment and public health yet stumble on preoccupied with the myth of universal property ownership. The gap between what we promise and what we deliver seems set to widen further. The consequences for damaged trust between generations cannot be stressed enough." Sir Michael Lyons

The Lecture and Reception is kindly supported by Leeds City Council.
