The RTPI Young Planners' Conference 2015 will be held from Friday 9 to Saturday 10 October in the maritime city of Southampton at the iconic Grand Harbour Hotel, located along the waterfront close to the city centre. Hosted by the South Coast Young Planners' Network, the conference will explore the theme of 'Planning for Successful Places' and will ask the critical question of what makes a place successful and how can planning facilitate this? The generous headline sponsors for this conference are Savills and Turley.
Around 200 young planning professionals from across the UK will gather and be challenged to consider what makes a place successful in the context of the following key areas:
- Politics of Planning Places
- Place making under pressure: The Environmental Balance
- Planning for South Coast Communities
- Designing Successful Places
- Planning for Growth
The conference will also include workshops, which will provide young planners with opportunities to develop or enhance practical skills, explore key topics in greater detail or obtain essential advice on the APC process. Study tours around Southampton and the wider area will allow delegates to experience examples of best practice from the South Coast.
An informal drinks reception will be held on the Thursday evening to welcome early arrivals to the city and to launch the two-day event. If you would like to attend you will need to select this option when booking your ticket to the conference. Tickets are complimentary but limited.
A formal dinner and social will also be held on the Friday at the contemporary Hotel Novotel.
