Heritage Debate - Saving Modern Buildings

Tour and Centenary Debate

Thursday, 01 May 2014 at 5:15PM - 8:00PM
County Hall, Fishergate, Preston
RTPI North West

The listing of a building can often be a contraversial decision, fraught with tension and heartache.  The issue is often compounded by a lack of understanding of the historical significance of modern buildings, both by potential developers and also by the public.  However, modern buildings are often inherently flexible and can be given a new lease of life, and indeed love!

We will start with an informal walking tour of the recently Grade 11 listed Preston Bus Station, by Manchester Modernist Society, at Gate 3 of the Bus Station, followed by the debate at County Hall.  You can just join the debate if you are unable to make the tour.  Note that places on the tour are limited.
