The RTPI East of England and the IHBC East Anglia present a one-day conference and CPD opportunity in the historic setting of The Maltings in Ely. This joint event will focus on 'heritage at risk', new development and design in heritage settings, and the practicalities and challenges of bringing about positive action to safeguard and restore the historic built environment.

The conference is intended for both planners and conservation professionals of all disciplines. It offers the chance for those attending to receive updates from a series of notable and well-respected figures in the region, from the private as well as the public sector, on such themes as current government policy as it affects the historic environment and existing and future funding initiatives through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

This will be a wide ranging and 'must attend' event for those who wish to be up to speed with present developments in the heritage sector and also those who wish to obtain some useful guidance when it comes to using legislation to bring about positive action by way of the planning system.

With the back drop of Ely and its cathedral on a spring day, the event promises to be both an enjoyable networking opportunity as well an invaluable update for those engaged in the heritage sector.
