Where now for the high street?  Is this the end of the road?

This event will focus on the challenges for planners and local communities in finding new roles for our town centres. Changes in shopping habits, the limited accessibility of many town centres, planning policies and the current economic climate all contribute in different ways to their decline. We will hear about some of the initiatives being tried in this region and beyond  such as placemaking, the Portas towns, town teams, masterplanning and heritage- led planning. Will these work or do we need new and different solutions? If so, how can they be found and deployed?
