The Government has launched a consultation on Housing Standards in the wake of the report Towards more Sustainable Homes from the Housing Standards Review Challenge Panel. The stated aim of the review process has been to 'rationalise the large number of codes, standards, rules, regulations and guidance that add unnecessary cost and complexity to the house building process - while delivering quality, sustainability, safety and accessibility'. Both the RTPI & CIH plan to make a response to the consultation and this event will help to collect views and discuss priorities.

John Perry on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Joanne Wheeler on behalf of the UK Green Building Council will introduce the topic and provoke discussion. Attendees should come along prepared to share their experience of what might and might not work with the current proposals.
