The East of England has many important market towns, some of which are struggling to survive.

This afternoon event will:

  • Discuss what investments need to be made to maintain and improve attractiveness of town centres
  • Highlight the work that is currently being undertaken in parts of the region
  • Discuss the work of Action for Market Towns
  • Speakers and delegates will be encouraged to participate in a short debate at the end of the afternoon.

Our thanks to St Edmundsbury Borough Council for hosting this event.

Our AGM is taking place at the same venue at 12.45pm. A free sandwich lunch is available at 12.30pm for RTPI Members wishing to attend the AGM. Booking is required.

This event will finish in time for delegates to have a walk around Bury St Edmunds' town centre to find out why it is quoted on the official tourism web site as being: "a unique and dazzling historic gem".

If you are able to stay for the evening, a tour has been organised around the historic Greene King Brewery. But hurry, places are limited!
