Neighbourhood planning is one of the central planks of the recent planning reforms introduced by the Coalition Government that is designed to devolve power and responsibility for planning down to the neighbourhood level. This new tier of planning presents a range of exciting opportunities and some real challenges for communities to engage in the production of neighbourhood plans that reflect their needs and aspirations. This seminar will explore some of these opportunities and challenges through the lens of neighbourhood planning in action by focusing on a number of case study examples drawn from the West Midlands.
