The Water Framework Directive (WFD) is a European Directive which introduces a new strategic planning process to manage, protect and improve the water environment.

This half-day event, being held in association with the Environment Agency, will highlight the hugely important role of Local Authorities in improving the water environment.

The existing roles and responsibilities of Local Authorities mean that they are already involved in actions included in the River Basin Management Plans. This workshop is designed to increase the level of understanding of how planning can contribute towards WFD objectives and to share and learn from best practice examples.
