Planning for Business Award Winner 2011
Summary
Shaftesbury Villages refers to five areas in central London which Shaftesbury plc has extensive property holdings in - Carnaby Street, Chinatown, Berwick Street, Seven Dials/Convent Garden and areas close to the Royal Opera House.

They are described as villages as they have strong local resident and business communities. Using the Urban Farming concept a planning framework has been developed with Westminster City Council and Camden Council which allows flexibility to change uses, effective management of existing buildings and the street environment, and efforts to bring life underused areas. Shaftesbury have a long term vision and commitment to their holdings, giving them a sustainable future, building on the history of the individual areas.
