Low Carbon Bath - Centre for Sustainable Energy (working with the Bath Preservation Trust)

Sustainable communities award winner 2011

Summary

Bath is a unique historic city and its heritage is rightly valued, however it is not exempt from contributing to solutions to climate change.

Low Carbon BathThe project sought to find acceptable ways to reduce domestic carbon use, providing better heated and insulated homes, without jeopardising Bath's historic environment and its World Heritage Status. The supplementary planning document being developed as a result of this project is thought to be first of its kind to be driven by community groups that have recognised a policy gap. It will make a major contribution to delivering sustainable communities in heritage areas.
